Gurveen Kahlon (they/she)

Gurveen is a third-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at the University of San Francisco and a queer Panjabi Sikh child of immigrants. gurveen was drawn to the field of psychology after witnessing the deep lack of accessible and culturally responsive mental health resources within their own community.

Their previous clinical experience was at SACHPS, where they provided therapeutic services to the South Asian community in their native languages panjabi and Hindi. They have experience supporting their clients navigating anxiety, depression, complex trauma, relationship and family challenges, identity exploration and other significant life transitions.

gurveen’s approach to therapy is client-centered, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with a strong grounding in cultural humility and social justice. Their work is influenced by liberation psychology, narrative therapy, and relational frameworks, with attention to how oppressive systems shape lived experience. She aims to create a space where clients feel seen, honored, and supported in exploring their internal worlds, relationships, and meaning-making processes.

Outside of training, she is passionate about advocacy and expanding mental health access and visibility for queer and south asian communities. They also enjoy spending time dancing with friends, being in nature and admiring the city views, and building community in San Francisco with her loves Poe and Mirchi
