Aleida Moreno

Aleida Moreno (they/them) is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area pursuing a Master’s in Integral Counseling Psychology at CIIS, which emphasizes the connection between psychology and spirituality. They also have two years of training in Somatic Experiencing, which supports clients in moving stuckness through their bodies after traumatic events and allows for a slow reconnection with the body.

Aleida has five years of experience providing mental health services for people with complex trauma histories. They have provided support and advocacy for youth in the foster care system, sexual and domestic violence survivors, and LGBTQ+ adults. Aleida also has experience in the field of conflict mediation and transformative justice and holds a B.A. in Gender and Women’s Studies from UC Berkeley.

Upon graduation, they hope to pursue training and education to provide psychedelic-assisted therapy to communities for people in marginalized communities.

In their work with clients, Aleida pulls from a number of frameworks including liberation psychology, which considers the oppressive sociopolitical structure we live within, depth psychology which explores the unconscious, transpersonal psychology which aims to integrate spiritual and transcendent experiences all through a trans-centering feminist lens. Aleida sees therapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist and values creating a secure space for their clients to explore, sit with, and move through complex emotions and experiences.

They are interested in working with folks in the leather/kink communities, sex workers, people in non-monogamous relationship structures, and those exploring their gender and sexual identities.
