Emma Johnson

Emma Johnson (she/her) is a dedicated psychotherapy clinician who brings a relational approach to therapy, operating through an intersectional feminist lens. Emma practices from a culturally responsive and person-centered approach, and is passionate about working with non-binary, transgender, and woman-identified queer individuals.

Throughout her training, Emma has gained experience working with non-binary, transgender, and other LGBTQ+ identified adolescents and adults. She has experience working numerous mental health struggles, including trauma, violence, and attachment difficulties. Emma recognizes the unique challenges and strengths within these communities and strives to create a safe and supportive space for healing and growth.

Emma has a background in art history and is interested in integrating expressive art in therapy. She believes that artistic expression can serve as a powerful tool for self-discovery and healing. Coupling this with her relational approach to therapy, Emma aims to foster a deeper exploration of emotions, experiences, and personal narratives with her clients.

Emma is currently pursuing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of San Francisco, where she is continually refining her clinical skills and theoretical knowledge. Committed to creating an environment where her clients feel held, empowered, and welcomed as their full authentic selves, she strives to establish a collaborative and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship.

Emma acknowledges the power systems that influence the well-being of marginalized communities and actively works to address them in her practice. She is aware of her own privilege within these systems and is committed to using her position to advocate for social justice and equality. Emma believes that everyone deserves access to quality mental healthcare that is affirming and respectful of their unique identities and experiences.

In her work as a psychotherapy clinician, Emma Johnson is dedicated to supporting her clients through their healing journeys while also committing to her own personal growth and cultural responsiveness.
