Sabrina Ortiz

 

Sabrina Ortiz (she/her) is a compassionate clinician in training and third-year doctoral student at the University of San Francisco. As a lesbian woman of mixed Latinx and Asian descent, she recognizes the challenges of navigating oppressive systems and its impact on mental health. She is committed to decolonizing the therapeutic process and creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empowering space for her clients. With years of experience working in community mental health, she has had the opportunity to work with individuals with diverse identities navigating complex trauma. She has worked with adults with severe mental illnesses and co-occuring substance misuse in crisis and transitional residential mental health treatment programs and with LGBTQ+ youth and young adults at an outpatient mental health clinic.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative and strength-based, and she draws from a variety of modalities including humanistic, ACT, CBT, EFT, narrative therapy, and expressive arts. She utilizes humor, creative interventions, and individual strengths to help her clients in creating a more fulfilling life. She is passionate about working with the diverse LGBTQ+ community, with a specific interest in working with QTBIPOC folks, multiracial/multicultural folks, first and second generation immigrants, and couples.
