More Information about the Nature Solo Sit Day on May 3rd

Join Outlandish! for a beautiful adventure out on the Sonoma Coast! Our challenge for this adventure isn't quite a physical challenge. It’s going to be a day for queer youth to claim ALL that they are. Both a true celebration of our queer selves, as well as an exploration into the stories that keep us from being our fullest selves, this is a day of empowerment and community for queen teens.

This program is for any queer teen who has asked themselves, or wanted to ask themselves, “Who am I?” And “Who am I not?”; For any queer adolescent who has wondered how on Earth our world has come to be what it is, who amidst fear and grief has dared to ask or wanted to ask, “What can I do,” has wondered “Am I good enough?” “Do I belong?” “Is there a home for me here?” Together, in queer community, in collaboration with this queer and beautiful land, we will dare to ask some of these questions.

The big challenge and opportunity for participants during this outing is a 3-4 hour solo ceremony on the beach, nestled between preparatory community time beforehand and community harvest and celebration time after. You might be surprised how much strength and self-knowing we can find from sitting with ourselves, our lives, and our stories with the ocean’s vast possibility, depth, and mystery in front of us and the sturdy and proud rocky cliffs of the land we call home behind us.

In the modern world, there’s hardly any time to slow down and breathe. There’s hardly any time to unplug from the technological world around us filling us up often way past capacity with information and news and feelings. There’s hardly anytime to just be. To be with ourselves. For some of you reading this the idea of that might make your heart beat faster, or your muscles tighten up a bit. Simply the idea of it might feel scary, it might sound kind of boring. Maybe, too, there's a part of you that lights up, that imagines the exhilarating feeling of inner freedom to be safely alone on the beach letting go of old stories that keep you held back so you can be your truest, most authentic queer self! We invite you to welcome both, and to listen to that lit-up part of you, and to join us for this special experience.

This trip will be co-facilitated by Rooted Rites.
